Temporary Housing for Heat-Related Emergencies

INtouch Senior Services is working with the Romanian American Chamber of Commerce to gather Facilities and other Aging Specialists, to provide assistance to Seniors 65+ if they need temporary housing in Assisted Living during a Heat Related Emergency. This program also covers All Assisted Living Homes in Arizona who may encounter a Heat Related Emergency and should relocate their Residents to a safe environment immediately.

AZDHS said “High temperatures increase the risk for heat-related illnesses like heat exhaustion and heatstroke. In 2020, Arizona had 2,414  heat-related illness emergency department visits and 520 heat-related deaths. Arizona has averaged nearly 250 heat-related deaths annually in the past three years. This is regrettable, since heat-related illness is preventable.”

Our Goal this is to provide resources and a safe cool place for each and every older adult in Arizona if a Heat Related Emergency should occur and reduce the number of Heat-Related Deaths.
